Export is a community with distinctly low tax rates and a community very encouraging of local business. There are many businesses in Export providing a wide range of services. For entertainment, these businesses offer everything from retail shopping to dining. There are also a number of businesses providing everyday conveniences, such as auto service and construction companies. Export’s convenient location provides residents with access to an extended range of resources and amenities. The community is surrounded entirely by the larger Municipality of Murrysville. The borough is also just a half-hour's drive from the larger city of Pittsburgh.

Export is home to excellent community resources, providing residents with access to an abundance of resources. The Export Playground is a wonderful site for children and their families, and even hosts summer programs for the community’s younger residents. The Community Park features a large pavilion that hosts community events and parties throughout the year. The local fire department’s social hall serves as host to even more community events, including regular Bingo sessions.

For residents who prefer a more exclusive place to play, the Westmoreland Country Club finds its home in Export. This beautifully maintained club is home to a pool, tennis courts, and a bar and grill area. The starring feature of the club is the 18-hole championship golf course, which comes complete with practice facilities and a pro shop. The club also has a children's playground and a supervised indoor playroom, perfect for letting the little ones play while parents indulge in their sport of choice.

Residents of Export are served by the Franklin Regional School District. The district operates three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The district is one of the best in the state, with schools that provide excellent academics and extracurricular activities. For alternatives to the public education system, the neighboring communities to Export offer several private schooling options.
